Hi there, Pictures fans, friends, and family!
It’s been a great January-February in PicturesWorld - lots of fun events, old friends, new friends and the usual silliness!
We started out the month with a gig at our old hangout Maggie Mae’s down on Austin’s very own 6th Street - used to play there almost every week “back in the day”, so it was great to be back on their outdoor stage for a corporate party - shout out to Happy Chicks on 6th Street for providing a delicious dinner for our group :) The following weekend we had 3 back-to-back parties - Thurs the 6th, we were in the Foundation Room at Houston’s historic House of Blues - we’ve been to HOB several times, but this was a first to play in the incredible Foundation Room - be sure and check it out if you’re in town! The food was fantastic and the crowd was awesome!
Friday 7th we stayed in Houston - had an AMAZING lunch at Thai Spice buffet on Westheimer and Voss…Highly Recommend! - then headed to the River Oaks Country Club where almost 800 guests dined and danced the night away - we were in the main ballroom and there was even a jazz trio in a pavilion set up just for the party with 3 sushi chefs to indulge every whim of the crowd.
Saturday the 8th we headed down to Corpus Christi where we played a Beach-themed party at the Corpus Christi Country Club. Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffett, and even a whole roasted pig!! Oh my! :D We even saw some dear friends from Mingles and Bobaruba’s clubs - a great blast from the past!
We were off for Valentine's day, so several of us celebrated our singer Victoria’s birthday at the RockHouse grill near Lake Travis with our friends “Stella and the Hey-Dudes” - sang, danced and had a great time, then it was off to Tyler for Saturday 15th gig - the Heart Ball at the Patriot Center on the UT Tyler campus, hosted by one of our dearest friends, Mr. Jose Feliciano and his lovely and charming wife, Wanda - we’ve known these people for many years and they are some of the nicest people we know in the great state of Texas and that’s saying a lot! As a matter of fact, they have already hired us for next year too! Incredible food provided by several local vendors; everything from Beef Tenderloin to Lobster Bisque, freshly made Sushi, Shrimp Cocktail and so much more - definitely the party to beat so far this year!
So we’re heading back up to Northeast Texas this weekend for the Gala Sesquicentennial Ball in Longview on Saturday 22nd. We’ll feature our 14-piece Pictures Orchestra with 4 horns and 4 string players doing songs through the decades - should be one for the history books with even celebrity surprise too! The Governor will be there as well! Then next week another The Pictures Orchestra event in Tyler, TX for a presentation/dance!
Lots of upcoming events and we’ll keep you posted - thanks for following and thanks for keeping us where we are for this many years and going strong! The Pictures Band - February 2020
